It is almost inevitable that any new Canadian female singer that crosses the pop/country divide is going to be compared to a certain Ms Twain. Sarah McClurg is an exciting, young, singer- songwriter from Ottawa, and her 2010 debut album, Tennessee Rain, certainly stands up to scrutiny and comparison with Canada's finest.

McClurg sets the dynamic tempo for this album with the memorable title track, and with the assistance of producer Danny White in his own 16-Ton recording studio in Nashville, Sarah sets about redefining contemporary country music.

 

McClurg has enlisted an impressive array of Nashville talent for the album, including Dave Roe, JD Simo, Scotty Huff and the evergreen Al Perkins, managing to walk the fine line of providing country soul for the purists, with enough modern pop for casual radio listeners with her catchy hooks and melodies.
